Bill Gates is the founder and chairmen of the Microsoft Corporation. He founded the company in 1975 after leaving his junior year at Harvard University. By creating the most popular computer software on the planet, Gates has allowed people to communicate with one another at the push of a button. As a leader in personal communications, Gates realized the importance of reaching someone within the click of a mouse. People use Windows to reach out to friends, relatives, and business associates. Through the use of Windows technology, Gates has allowed Microsoft users to witness historical occurrences on their computers and cell phones, but also view prominent personal events such as wedding albums and the births of babies. His leadership in the field of personal interaction has allowed people to forge friendships and relationships with others around the world. He promoted the use of email and internet communication as a tool for those who may not have the courage or physical ability to speak in front of others.
While some critics charge that Gates has created an anti-competitive monopolistic control over the world’s use of computer technology, others realize that global society functions almost entirely on his brainchild. Not only do a large majority of businesses use Microsoft software to conduct transactions and secure transfers of goods and services, world leaders rely on Microsoft for securing confidential information and contacting other nations for a host of political reasons. Furthermore, the majority of technological shoppers purchase computers containing Microsoft Windows. As one of the world’s prominent business leaders, Gates has impacted the computer industry by having Windows installed as standard equipment on most computers, regardless of the manufacturer. Gates received recognition as Time’s “Person of the Year” award in 2005 for his humanitarian efforts.

In July of 2009, I got married in beautiful Anchorage, Alaska. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Wilkes University. I began studying there in the fall of 2008 and hope to complete the program in the spring of 2013. ReplyDeleteBill Gates is an amazing person because he has worked tirelessly to give back to society through his foundation. And really, when you think about it, he influences our lives everyday through all of the technological advances that he has pioneered through Microsoft. When I first started working, we didn't have computers...Did I just say that? True, no computers and I would use a typewriter and when I made a mistake, I had to start all over again. He has allowed the world to grow ever smaller and might be the single biggest reason why the Soviet Union collapsed. The age of information was available to everyone and unstoppable. He is an amazing leader because he is a pioneer.
ReplyDeleteThis is also a reason why I think that Hillary Clinton is an amazing leader. She is a pioneer. She was the first woman elected as a New York State Senator and the first woman to run for President of the United States. Her willingness to challenge herself far beyond the limits of what other women have done is a great measure of her character. She is not willing to let others define her role, but she is willing to seek out opportunities and challenges where she believes she can be effective and successful.

Donald Trump emphasizes the importance of “thinking big.” Advancements in the Microsoft Corporation clearly fall under the category Trump so often describes. Both Trump and Gates seem to share similar philosophies.
